Mu Metal Foil typically consists of about 77–80% nickel and 15% iron, with small amounts of copper, molybdenum, and chromium added to boost corrosion resistance and workability. This alloy showcases an incredibly high magnetic permeability (up to 300,000) and effectively attenuates low-frequency magnetic fields. Mu Metal is soft, ductile, and easily shaped, allowing for precise fabrication without sacrificing performance. Its mechanical properties include a tensile strength of around 500 MPa and excellent dimensional stability. The foil undergoes annealing in a controlled hydrogen atmosphere to enhance magnetic shielding performance and ensure consistent quality for demanding applications.
